PNG to JPG Guide

A quick guide to converting PNG images into lightweight JPGs for web, thumbnails, and previews.

PNG is a great format for crisp graphics and transparency, but it often produces larger files. JPG is designed for smaller file sizes and fast loading, especially for photos and thumbnail style images.

When you should keep PNG

Step by step conversion

  1. Open the PNG to JPG tool.
  2. Drop your PNG file into the upload box or click to browse.
  3. Click Convert to JPG.
  4. Download your JPG and use it wherever you need a smaller image.

What happens to transparency

JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent areas in your PNG will become a solid background, usually white. If your PNG is a logo with transparent edges, you may see a halo effect if the logo was designed to blend into a dark background.

If you need a specific background color, place the PNG on that color in an editor first, then convert.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting to JPG make the image blurry?

JPG compression can soften sharp edges a bit, especially around text and line art. For photos and thumbnails it usually looks great. For logos and UI graphics, PNG is often the better choice.

Can I convert a transparent PNG and keep transparency?

Not with JPG. If you need transparency, keep PNG or use a format like WEBP or SVG depending on your use case.

How long are my files stored?

Files are stored only long enough to complete the conversion and provide your download link. They are deleted automatically after a short period as described in the Privacy Policy.
